Support from Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance:

The Stay In Balance Plan

“Yes, I want everyone to learn and live by the ABC’s, but, most importantly, to also believe we need balance in our lives, especially those lives which are affected by mental illness. That is the priority.” Chris Della

The Stay in Balance Organization

At Stay in Balance we comfort and lend a hand to people who are affected by a mental illness. Over the last two years, the organization and Chris Della, the founder, have dedicated resources to communicate with individuals, family, friends, and the community to make BALANCE the top priority in the mental health arena. Educating and communicating within communities is the beginning.

What is the Stay in Balance Plan?

One in five people is affected by mental illness; a disease that does not discriminate, striking every economic, religious, and ethnic group. Mental illness touches relatives, friends, and colleagues. Mental Illness is treatable. Therefore, Stay in Balance will join with consumers, partners, organizations and communities to achieve three major goals:

Bring awareness and end the stigma of mental illness to make Stay in Balance a part of every day life.

Millions of people suffer from a disease that has them living in an unbalanced state of mind, which isolates them from living a life of happiness. Being diagnosed with a mental illness will bring understanding to some, but many are not diagnosed because their disease is a stigma in society. The illness can be crippling to marriages, relationships, family, and friends. Not knowing about the illness will only worsen lives that could otherwise be and stay in balance.

Bring compassion and understanding to a way of life that is lived by so many, but talked among so few

By reaching out and talking about how the illness has affected a life, increased awareness and the feeling among consumers can be “there is hope and I am not alone.” For individuals to make the first step, they need to Accept, Believe, and Commit to Change (ABCs) and know that so many people are working to stay in balance and are successful. An unbalanced life can get closer to balance just by having a voice that speaks of belief and knowledge through experience.

Bring communities together to learn the ABC’s of balance, which will help those struggling receive the comfort and support they so desperately need

Millions of teenagers and young adults report experiencing weeks of hopelessness and loss of interest in normal daily activities. Many of these depressed teens are using alcohol, marijuana and other drugs, making their situation worse, thus, their life continues to be a struggle. Stay in Balance is committed to expressing the need for an open dialogue about mental illness, imbalance, and hope through presentations, outreach to consumers, universities, government, health care providers, and the wider community to help more individuals practice the ABCs and stay in balance.
